The Beaches of the Dominican Republic

  • Puerto Plata. This beach is popular with those who like snorkelling and diving. The hotels on this beach have prices that will suit any budget.

  • Cabarete. This beach in the northern part of the country is perfect for windsurfing. Just offshore from this 2 mile stretch of beach you will find some beautiful coral reefs.

  • Punta Cana. This is the prime tourist destination with magnificent resorts and entertaining nightlife.

  • Barahona. This area contains four exquisite beaches. There is not much here in the way of accommodation, but it is the perfect place to come if you truly want to enjoy the beach.

  • Boca Chilca. This beach is not far from the capital of Santo Dominga and it is very popular with families because the water is very shallow. This makes it safe for children to swim and have fun in the water.

It doesn't matter what you are looking for in a beach experience, you will find it in the Dominican Republic. Some of the popular beaches are quite crowded, but you will always be able to find a spot to set up your chair and soak up the rays.
