Golf in the Dominican Republic

 

With a myriad of things to do in the Dominican Republic, one will never find themselves bored. The nightlife alone is enough to keep a visitor occupied for weeks, but what about those long, sunny afternoons? Along with deep sea diving, fishing and river rafting the country is peppered with venues where one can participate in a variety of sports. One of the most popular in the country of the Dominican Republic is golf. Dominican Republic visitors come from near and far to enjoy one of the many golf courses interspersed throughout the country. Many are located near the coastline making for stunning scenic backdrops to observe while waiting for your cohorts to play through.

While there are an abundance of municipalities in the country where golf courses can be found, some of the finest are located in the community of Punta Cana. Some of these courses double as resorts as well and are hence, somewhat expensive but provide a first-rate, relaxing place for visitors to stay and enjoy a round of golf. Some of the fine courses in the town include the Cocotal Golf and Country Club, the White Sands Golf and Playa Resort, the Bavaro Golf Course and the Punta Cana Resort & Golf, all of which have a par 72 with 18 superb holes to play through.

Another popular destination for golf enthusiasts visiting the Dominican Republic is La Romana. Located on the coastline, not unlike Punta Cana, golf courses in this town have the added benefit of spectacular views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Teeth of the Dog, the Altos de Chavon and the Romana Country Club are among the golfing venues in La Romana all of which have 18 holes with a par 72. The capital city, Santo Domingo, is another place where visiting golfers are frequently found. Among the golf courses in the capital city are the Cayacoa Country Club, the Loma de Chivo Country Club and the Isabel Villas Country Club. The latter two have a par 27 with only nine holes and the first has 18 holes with a par 72.
